The Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Cd coverLast night Jim and I went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert.  This is the second year in a row that we have seen them live at the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver for their Christmas concert, and it was every bit as amazing as the first time we went.  Nothing else has ever made me want to become a true rock star more than this!

We walked into the Pepsi Center, along with a crowd of people about our age and older.  It was definitely a more mature crowd.  (I am making us sound old but want to convey that this is not just another teenage rock concert by any means.)  I remember looking to the stage and the rigging right away.  I have never seen so many light set-ups at a concert in my life.  The stage was extensive, the ceiling was full of lighting rigs, and I could already tell something was going to happen in the middle of the floor based on a platform that was set a little over halfway back in the floor seats.  I was impressed with this concert already, and it hadn’t even started.

Last night, after working our way along the stage to find our seats (row 11 on the floor…holler!) we settled down and waited for the show to start.  The house lights went out, the crowd began to cheer, and the concert began.  The Trans-Siberian Orchestra has the most impressive opening song, with a spectacular light show and true rock and roll musicians and singers.  All night I was never ceased to be amazed.  It was not just a typical concert, but a show complete with amazing lights, lasers, fog, snow and fire.

What makes the Trans-Siberian Orchestra most incredible however, is not the lights or snow.  It is the talent of the musicians and singers.  The musicians are true rockers.  I have never seen such cool violinists in my life.  The Trans-Siberian Orchestra has two main violinists who play while walking around the stage, jumping and “rocking out.”  The Orchestra brings in Denver’s local symphony to play with them, which is awesome!  The pianist is incredible, the electric guitarists dual, and all of the singers have voices that are so good, I was almost brought to tears.

Amidst this incredible light show and rock musicians and singers, is a true feeling of Christmas.  A man they call “The Voice” tells a story between songs and just hearing the Orchestra’s famous Christmas songs makes this one of the most festive and exciting events of the holiday season.

I would highly recommend going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert, and you should most definitely purchase their Christmas album to listen to this upcoming season.
