Ciao Italia

by Amber Hayes on November 12, 2009

VespaIf you have been reading this blog for any period of time you may have picked up on the fact that I get pretty passionate about everything that is Italian. I jump for joy when I see that salami is on sale at the grocery store. I crave pasta and often feel a part of me is dying when it has been over a week since I have had it. The music of Dean Martin and Tony Bennett will instantaneously put me in a better mood, and I understand conversations much better when others are also speaking with their hands.

The signs of a true Italian, both good and bad, run rampant in my day to day life, yet I somehow have felt a bit of apprehension when it comes to blogging about my experiences in Italy. There are so many wonderful cities, towns, and sites. The food is too delicious to describe, the history runs deep, and the culture is rich in tradition and passion. Yes, writing about Italy is a daunting task that will most likely always haunt me unless I step forward and face my biggest blogging fear: Writing about something I can hardly do justice to. However, it has been said that we must face our fears, bite the bullet, don’t put off until tomorrow what we can to today, so… I will attempt to put together a series of blog posts highlighting some of my favorite experiences in the homeland. Italy here I come!
