On our first afternoon in New York City Jim and I jumped on the F-Line Subway and headed to Soho where a small sandwich shop called Peanut Butter and Company was located. We had learned about this small, family owned, local place from watching the Travel Channel. We were both fascinated by the idea of a restaurant that serves all different types of peanut butter sandwiches.
Peanut Butter and Company is about a two-minute walk to Sullivan Street from the West 4th Street Subway stop in the Soho neighborhood of New York City. You can ride several of the Subway lines to this stop and find Peanut Butter and Company tucked on a side street. With about five or six tables, the restaurant is decorated with all sorts of peanut butter paraphernalia and it definitely had a 1950’s “Mom’s Kitchen” feel.
The Travel Channel had recommended that we try the Elvis sandwich that has peanut butter, bananas, and honey. However, if you want to make it a true Elvis, you add the bacon for a small price. Wanting the full Peanut Butter and Company experience we decided to share the Elvis and the Fluffernutter sandwich. Each sandwich comes with a small bag of chips and three carrot sticks, just like mom used to fix.
When our sandwiches came out we were amazed at how big they were. That is a lot of peanut butter! Yum! We dove into the Elvis first. It has a surprisingly great taste. The sweet of the honey mixed with the salty taste of the bacon was perfect. And we all know that bananas and peanut butter go together nicely. This was a great sandwich and a must eat when visiting Peanut Butter and Company. The Fluffernutter was like dessert, filled with Peanut Butter and Company’s own Fluff. We loved this sandwich as well, but it would definitely be difficult to eat the whole thing. The Fluffernutter is very rich!
Peanut Butter and Company is now somewhere we will make sure to stop anytime we are in New York City. I know next time that I will order the Elvis again, and perhaps try the peanut butter BLT! Check out Peanut Butter and Company Online.

The Elvis might be one of the most amazing sandwiches we have had in a long time. Your post is making me want another one right now!
